Unfinished Business- Celtics Game 6

Figuring out last night’s craziness? Boy, that’s a tough one. It’s like being tossed in a whirlwind of feelings - shock, relief, pure excitement, and just flat out disbelief. This morning, everyone expected the Boston Celtics’ season to be toast. Their chance at clawing back to glory and snatching that 18th banner looked like it was down the drain. But guess what? The Celtics are still in the game, headed home with a shot at the NBA Finals. It sounds nuts, but when you think about the 2023 Boston Celtics, it starts to make sense. They’re known for never choosing the easy way, and that’s something everyone can agree on.

So, let’s rewind to last night. Probably one of the roughest games the Celtics have had this season. Their three-point shooting? The pits, worst of the entire season. I mean, the Heat managed to double their score from deep, pushing their lead to a whopping 21 points. They even snagged 17 offensive rebounds and had 7 fewer turnovers. After gaining a 10-point lead with just 4:10 left on the clock, the Celtics went on to miss their last 11 shots of the 4th quarter. They only managed to rack up 104 points, and this season, they’ve only won four games when they scored that low. They even let in 31 points in the final quarter, when they should’ve been at their defensive best. They even missed what could’ve been a game-winning three. But then…

With just 0.2 seconds left, they did it! A perfect bounce, a perfect catch, and bam, the Celtics win. Now it’s time for Game 7.

Let’s be real, it felt like déjà vu. We’ve seen this kind of game before and each time, it ended in a loss for the Celtics. But Game 6 was different. It was like some higher power stepped in. Sure, Derrick White’s alertness helped, but despite the Celtics playing so poorly and still managing to win, that’s nothing short of a miracle! And hey, that’s cool! Every championship run needs some lucky breaks.

And honestly, it feels like the Celtics were owed this buzzer beater after all the tough ones they’ve had. But now’s not the time to let their guard down. Winning three games isn’t the same as winning the series. Don’t buy into all the chatter that the Celtics have already bagged Game 7 and are back in the Finals. Nope, that’s not the case. This series is still up for grabs. If the Celtics repeat their Game 6 performance in Game 7, they’ll lose and this whole comeback will have been for nothing. The Heat thought they had it in the bag after three wins. The Celtics can’t make the same mistake.

Regardless of which side you’re on, Game 7 is gearing up to be one for the ages!
